ABOUT STEVE MILLARD
His first serious trip abroad was back in the late 60s when he joined the
Continental Circus and campaigned an AJS 7R and Kirby Matchless G50 across
Europe, including meetings on the other side of the Iron Curtain, the Isle of
Man (MGP & TT) plus the Nordschleife circuit at Nurburgring.
His favourite circuit - Nurburgring!
In the early 70s he joined up with Reg Thomas and formed “Tee Mill Tours” and
started to take thousands of fans by coach and ‘plane to the European Grands
Prix. Those were the days when a Grand Prix had six classes: 50cc (later to
become 80cc), 125, 250, 350 and 500cc plus sidecars - how times have changed!
From their days in the Continental Circus they knew how to handle officialdom,
which came in useful when organising tours to the old Eastern Bloc including
Russia, Czechoslovakia, Poland, East Germany and Yugoslavia.
They then started to venture further afield: Daytona where they became
regular visitors and in one year they took 1100 fans. They then started
organising tours to the Speedway World Finals: 700 to Los Angeles, 3500 to
Gothenburg, 2500 to Katowice in Poland and 6000 to Norden in Germany.
It was often stated to Steve and Reg that they had opened
everyone’s’ eyes to just how good foreign events were.
Sadly Tee Mill Tours was a casualty of the last recession.
With the advent of the Japanese manufacturers, the quality
and reliability of bikes improved and eventually the British biker
realised that the world does not stop at Dover. They then wanted to
venture abroad on their own bikes.
As the web was not available it was difficult for someone
to organise their ferry and hotels etc. So in the 90s Steve joined
with Tony Radstone at the Travel Corporation and started to organise
packages that included these.
Now that nearly everyone has become web literate, Steve has
decided upon yet another change of direction by turning this website
into your personal virtual travel agency. Here you can access
ferries, hotels, car hire and flights (Expedia) etc. Use the buttons
on the sidebars, create your own package and see how you could
possibly save money.
With his history of organising tours to every type of
motorcycle event coupled with his years’ of experience supplying
tickets, hotels, ferries and flights, Steve feels that no one has
the knowledge and expertise that he has.
